I've committed a crime against fashion

Just kidding. Or am I?

Since my first newsletter last week (here it is, in case you've missed it) where I mentioned a TikTok video with outfits that I wore before finding my style (look through, it's somewhere there) it got me thinking about crimes against fashion that we've all (even the greatest stylist world icons) committed.
Was it a crime at all? As a millennial, who grew up in a third-world country where the words "shopping mall" appeared years after I successfully established my trauma of trying jeans and sweaters in the -25C winter on a carton board behind a very questionable curtain.
We were trying to be stylish to our ability and to the allowance of what is acceptable to wear for a 13-year-old that was gifted to us by our parents. We all did our best to mimic the style of favourite celebrities. I remember spending my savings in thrift shops trying to find leather cutout pants from the music video "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera, but all I could find was a funky tie for my Avril Lavigne era (which was also acceptable to wear to school, not sure the same would have applied to those cutouts). Both eras were aligned in time by the way, I was finding myself. I wish Amy Jane London dresses were around that time too.

Anyway, I think we can all collectively agree that the 90s and 00s were one of the most traumatised fashion experiences yet the most iconic. This is some sort of magic, you can't explain it. I would probably never get myself to wear some of the items from my teen years, but I sure have a nostalgic smile seeing nowadays teens and Gen Zs rocking it while in my head I keep hearing the song of this week: Me Against the Music by Britney and Madonna.
And just like all of the iconic women I just mentioned who've done their share of fashion crimes - I want you to remember that it is okay to have those buried skeletons. Those made you exactly who you are now.
Yet, I cannot say the same for some of the Olympic Team outfits. Some iconic and quite a few made me question if the time machine really exists and if I traveled to those tasteless times. If it wasn't for Beyonce's video and tons of hotties - I would most definitely discard the whole USA team. Like I am discarding Ralf for his brutal crime against the Olympics fashion. Legally Blonde - makes a movie of the week. Obvious reasoning.
For the next two weeks, I am making the Olympics my entire personality because we all know how much I am invested in sports. Especially rugby. Particulary stretching time of the male team.
Snoop Dogg jamming at the same event and making his own history while carrying the fire torch - my new Roman Empire. Let me just watch him the entire Olympics. And the stretching sessions. Album of the week - R&G: The Masterpiece. They are just like Hermes for me - rising in value with age (Hermes sales are up by 13% in the last year, time to invest, babes).
Now onto some of the pop-culture iconic and historical moments this week. Creative Director Peter Hawkings exited Tom Ford. Biden exits the election (long due, wish the other one dropped out and straight to prіson for crimes that involve not only fashion choices). Vice President Kamala Harris, my eyes are on you, ma'am. Knowing her style, we are about to see even more elevated looks now that she is in the Presidency run.
All I could think about while writing this paragraph was the majestic Jewellery brand of the week jnct.co and the adventure that happened to me earlier this week.
One of the old acquaintances of mine happened to appear in London. Lond story short (for once that is actually the case). One minute we are agreeing to meet for coffee, the next - she is messaging me saying we are going on revenge shopping since she found out her boyfriend is cheating on her. Let's just say, that is a fair jail time for the crime and I was one of the judges. While I was assisting her as a stylist for Personal Shopping in Cartier, LV, and Hermes, the Universe did provide the facts that it works in mysterious ways, so who am I to say no to anything that comes my way? And that's a story about a girl named Lucky and her new perfumes and make-up.
Ladies, it pays off not to have a man but very good friends. If you ever in the same situation...Let's spend his money in style x
Allow men's mistakes to invest in your fashion experiments. Even if those might turn out as a crime against fashion - at least you will learn to express yourself, have fun, and never trust a man again. At least not before knowing by heart his credit card details. You know, just in case.
Last, but not least, I am adding a new weekly picks category - Inspiration Pool - Candace Reels. It is an extra point to the Fashion Tip of the week -> find people who resemble your inner aesthetics, follow them, pay attention to what they wear, how they wear it, and get inspired for your personal style and everyday looks.
That's all.
Okay, love you, bye xo
Your slightly nonchalant fashion stylist,
