And just like that...sorry, we are closed for maintenance...

Do you remember that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie compared men to socks because her life was so dry of men and nothing was happening? (Series of the week, precisely Season 5, episode 2).

Well, take this week as it just being that. Minus men part, including boring looking socks.

A lot has happened… mostly behind the scenes than on the exciting end, so somehow this week turned out to be more like a maintenance week for me. And setting up a new routine (don’t ask, I will share when I am ready). I honestly thought it would be a day, then it turned into two days. Later I gave in and here we are.

And as much as I wouldn’t mind replacing Brad Pitt on the cover of GQ so I can just spend some quality time with Clooney, in the pool, I scream “Yes, Chef” in my head and get down to business of making a name of myself so I can style Rihanna for the next Dior J’Adore campaign (oh best believe this is what I will be referring to when the interviewer will ask me how I manifested that all success for myself).

This week has taught me what I already knew yet sometimes fail to execute. It is major to schedule a rot-in-bed-kind-of-day (with a busy schedule and as a semi-obsessed control freak, yes I schedule those), your body and the Universe will do it for you. Body just needed rest, the Universe, in this case, has done overtime into pursuing me to have a rest day.

Although, it pains me that I did not do The workload of this week by 90%, I also have brain cells to understand that in would have taken me soooo much frustration to do it all that it would lose the purpose of the phrase “doing what I love”.

With that being said, it is your gentle reminder to remember it is way more important to rest when needed than to push yourself without purpose. Ask any wise athlete, they would say that recovery is as crucial as a successful training and then great results.

Because if we don’t recover, how can we show up the best for ourselves (should this make it to Nike CEO or something?)

As I am writing this I take a deep breathe in and out. Do it with me.

And let’s talk about fashion tips. Since I work smart, not hard — remember that it is totally fine if you don’t wear sequin gowns everyday. Sometimes simple jeans and a white tee will do the job just fine. Chic and simple, yet comfortable. Wardrobe consultation with me also would guide you into how to make these two simple items as stylist as possible.

Almost forgot to mention, I had a friend visiting me and she bought me the most amazing gift ever. So there will be a lot of fashion history appearing here and there as I explore this work of art. Let’s expand out knowledge together.

By the way, it is a book, if you haven’t guessed, that I can barely pick up with one hand.

Thank you for tuning in and supporting me in my dream.More next week. after I catch up with my 9 hours of sleep for a few days in a row. Pinky promise.

That’s all.

Okay, love you, bye xo

Your slightly nonchalant and very tired this week fashion stylist,

Aya x
